WARNING: serious post ahead. ignore if you're one lazy slob. and these are merely MY opinions. play nice or go away.
I believe that everyone, has in their lifetime, contemplated questions of existence, wondering why we, yes, we, are here, and just what on earth are we doing with our lives. Should we just live like a cow, 'eating, working in a manner of speaking, walking, talking, etc, - all done to perfection'? Is that all we're good for? Surely life is greater than all that, isn't it?
Isn't it miraculous that we, out of all those species that living or could have lived, are on this particular planet in this particular galaxy when there are other planets, other galaxies out there? So how did we come about, how did our world came about? Sure, there are not definite answers, and it's really quite impossible to get them.
Where does the world come from?
There are plenty schools of thought on the topic of existence. Religion versus science. Catholics, Christians, etc, believe that God created the universe, created earth, created us and every other living thing found in nature. For this purpose, let us believe that God is omnipotent, but where did God come from? What is He? His essence of existence, where did it come from? Did someone create God? If so, who? And even if God did create us, why us? For what purpose? Was He merely bored, or did He have any greater reason?
Similarly, Islam teachings has Allah being the omnipotent presence, though I shall not dwell on it, since my knowledge of Islam is probably too shallow. Similarly, Hinduism too, because they have simply too much deities for me to know who was the creator... I think Taoists believe that Nu Wa was the creator, she fashioned humans from clay, breathed life into them, just like God did... And... the Earth was made from a giant Pan, if I'm not wrong... his blood being the rivers and sea, this body the mountains and plains, or something. I've only heard this story as a child, so wonky memories. Other beliefs, Norse, Greek, Roman, Celtic, Egyptian, etc, all have their own various gods and goddesses, which I shall not elaborate, because other than me, I doubt many people care.
Scientists say that the Earth was created due to the Big Bang theory, with all the funky evidence and theories, after research. And frankly, isn't this all a huge coincidence then? It's just so incidentally that all those particles etc came together, and wham, we have the universe, and luckily there was this giant star emitting heat and light and could support life. And just so luckily, Earth happened to be the best place to live. And oh-so-coincidentally, creatures began to come about, etc, then evolution happened, blah blah blah. So, why couldn't we have lived on Mars, or Venus or Jupiter, etc, since evolution could occur, couldn't our bodies have adapted to the 'climate' there?
Well, we all have to have come from somewhere. Nothing can come from nothing.
Who are you?
What makes you you? As a person, as a child, as a friend, as an individual? What makes us different from mere animals?
Your own name, have you thought why you were thusly named? Why did your parents chose that particular name? Does your name perhaps hold some meaning, do you live up to the name given? Does our name define us? Or do we define our name?
Names, in all cultures and religions, hold power. All names have meanings, no matter how obscure they may be, due to the many languages out there. Our parents have given us names since our birth, were they putting their own expectations into the child, or was it just because the name sounded good to them?
When we hear a particular name, I'm sure our mind forms some sort of an impression. Some names conjure up images of fire, of stubbornness, some are particularly feminine, especially names that come from flowers. However, why do we have these impressions? Is it because of how the name sounds, and what it means, or do we form these impressions from people we know that hold that particular name?
All humans are different, be it race, religion, appearances, intelligence, etc, but underneath all that, we are still of the same species. Don't we all bleed red when you cut us, laugh when you tickle us [okay... so not all of us are ticklish, but let's not go into details] We have different morals, different views on life, it's probably impossible to find someone who's exactly like you, even though there might be plenty of similarities.
I think that the biggest thing that sets us apart from each other should be our perspectives. Each of us are raised differently; some parents are strict, some are lenient, and under the care of these parents, the children grow up differently, some will rebel, some docilely listen to their parents. All these are because of our personality, how we see things, hence leading to our reactions.
Alright, I shall stop here because I'm a lazy arse. Next serious post, shall be the elaboration of humans, morality, and hopefully, the afterlife.
