Taiwan: Day SIX [ 23:47 ]

Almost the last day... the journey's coming to an end already...

We started out bright and early. To get to the main point of this trip for many of them older people, as in those 30 and above. To sort of welcome a 'pi xiu' into their homes.

Pi Xiu are like guardians for Taiwanese people, you see these creatures outside buildings, standing guard over the building, helping to bring wealth into the pockets of the company/business.

Apparently, each color of this mystical creature has different meaning. There's five elements for Taoists/Chinese: Metal, wood, water, fire and earth. The white one's for metal. Which is the one that I have after the geomancer calculated my eight characters. [they take your birth date and time and convert them into some meaning. It's like horoscope, only the Chinese way] And apparently, I lack metal in my name and eight characters, hence I got a pi xiu to help balance myself out.

Then we had lunch at this really really really arty-farty place. It's called the Wu Jiao Chuan Ban

Every single last bowl and plate is handmade. And it's super heavy. The staff here are mostly male, because of the weight of the plates and all, and as their kitchen are located at the basement, and that there are a total of 5 storeys, strength is really needed for this. There's no elevator, mind you. Come here and work if you want to train yourself.

The creator of the various art pieces that this restaurant holds is the daughter of the owner, a very quirky woman. Apparently, she hates bathing and washing her hair, constantly going around looking very ungroomed, however, the art that she creates are always very unique, hence I guess no one really says anything, but brushes it off as some artist quirk...

At this point, the weather was seriously going for a dark turn, and was already raining in earnest by the time we reached the Taipei 101 building. There had been a weather forecast of a typhoon, hence the downpour and strong gale.

The shops were all of expensive branded goods that I doubt I can afford at this time. But they were also so were gorgeous and tempting. Anyway, no point shopping in the 101 when we can also get similar stuff back here. At almost the same price, give and take a little.

Dinner was at Shi Lin, where we got to try a whole lot of food, like the crispy chicken, which was waaaaay too large for a single person. The Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang, which is plain weird, in my opinion, and the name of the food too... is a little strange too. Things like White Bittergourd and Honey juice and fried oysters were great, but other stuff, like smelly tofu... made me cringe. Seriously.

After that, we walked through the famed Xi Meng Ding, bought some random stuff, which really wasn't much, just trinkets and things for my clique, yeah. That's about it, I guess. The stuff there's really much more expensive than in other areas of Taiwan...
