Taiwan: Day THREE [ 23:15 ]

The weather's still superb, with the wind and cool weather, I'm always wearing at least two layers of clothing and still feel very at ease. Completely unlike the ridiculously warm weather we have back here. I love this sort of cold weather, so very refreshing. Even though my poor lips are chapped and the stupid lip balm works naught.

Our first stop: Tai Ru Ge Caves

They have awesome scenery. I wish there's also such pretty scenery back here, but it's impossible, I guess. The water from the waterfall, in the last picture, is really really cold. Especially because it's autumn now, and the temperature's lower. I stepped into it barefooted and felt the cold immediately. It was as if my brain almost froze too, as the coldness flowed up from my feet. It would be awesome during summer times, because the water remains cold all year round.

After a long lunch at some restaurant in which the food is good, though a little too salty, we went to this... factory in which things like statues, marble and tiles are produced, for a little 'educational' trip.

it says something like 'House of Stone'.

And right beside this factory, is it's store, or something. And yet again, we have an educational talk, this time, on how to recognize good/bad quality jewels, more specifically, about jade.

so many pretty rocks, and jewellery. and so very expensive, indeed.

Ta-dah! This is what I bought from that stone emporium-store-thing. The stone's a cat's eye and is apparently a form of jade. Pretty, no? It cost like about NT$2200, so... about S$100 plus. Ouch, but it was just too pretty to resist buying. And my mother was nice enough to pay. Yay.

After that, it was again another temple visit. Because Taiwan has temples like we have 7-11s; walk a few hundred metres, and you'll see a temple. Very convenient.

Nu Wa Niang Niang Temple

To Taoists, Nu Wa Niang Niang is the creator. She created the world, out of the giant Pan; his body being the mountains, his blood being our rivers and oceans. Our tour guide, Betty, says that this temple is extremely... 'ling', as in, your prayers will be heard and answered. Apparently, prayers for love and peace are the most 'ling' for this temple. So, yeah, lots of praying here and there, especially because the average age of us tourists is probably 30 years old, hence quite superstitious and all.
