hands sweeping across ivory keys
playing out a long-forgotten melody
but all I hear is the silence of
a heart that forgot how to beat.
pale fingers, cold and white
blank eyes, staring straight ahead
lovely music, for the dead.
(can she hear us talking?
of course not, silly.)
and she smiles a Mona Lisa smile
